Memorial Day: What it means to us
As many of you know, Memorial Day in the United States is a time for us to reflect back and honor the men and women who gave their lives to protect and serve the United States of America. While we all have our political opinions, Memorial Day is a time to put those aside and together pay respects to those Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice to uphold our American way of life.
Memorial Day has different meanings to different people. To some, it’s just a day to gather with friends and family, have a BBQ, and enjoy an off-day from work. To other’s it’s a time to remember the people we’ve lost fighting for this country. The 42nd Estate might not be a person, but as a group we do have a a great deal of respect for the holiday and what it represents.
What Memorial Day Means to The 42nd Estate
One of our main goals here at The 42nd Estate is to empower our clients to become their own media force. We live in a special time where the mainstream media no longer holds all of the marketing and communication power. Each of us can now start a blog, engage in social media and genuinely reach out and connect with our target audience. None of this would be possible, however, without the American tenet of free speech.
The right to speak our minds freely without concern of censorship and limitation has always been a powerful principle that enabled American democracy. Over the years, as individual forms of expression grew ever more powerful and intuitive to utilize, freedom of speech has become stronger and stronger. Today, it’s at the core of the social media movement and at the core of what The 42nd Estate believes in and works to achieve.
Without the sacrifices of the men and women over the course of American history, The 42nd Estate would simply not be able to exist today. So, from all of us here at The 42nd Estate, thank you to the people who’ve sacrificed so much to make so much possible.
Happy Memorial Day everyone!
